Incremental recognition of pedestrians from image sequences

چکیده

The overall movement of articulated bodies (such as the human body) is enabled by the coordinated movement of its rigid body parts. The body parts are connected by joints and, in general, move di erently. For interpreting these movements as the movement of one single body, it seems to be necessary to incorporate knowledge in the analysis process. Therefore, in order to recognize pedestrians from monocular image sequences, we introduce a model-based approach. We represent the human body by a volume model and use medical motion data for simulating the movement of walking. This knowledge is exploited to determine the 3D-position as well as the posture of an observed person. By applying a Kalman lter we incrementally estimate the model parameters in consecutive images. Our approach has been tested on real image data.

تشخیص عابر پیاده با استفاده از کلاس بندهای SVM و هیستوگرام در توالی تصاویر مادون قرمز

Abstract In dark environments and foggy or smoky conditions where it is not possible to use eyesight and usual binoculars to detect human from other objects, the best solution is to use infrared images. This paper presents a robust method to recognize pedestrians in infrared image sequences. For this purpose, combination of SVM and histogram classifiers has been used. A pre-processing phase ext...

Motion-based recognition of pedestrians

In this paper we present an algorithm for recogniz ing walking pedestrians in sequences of color images taken from a moving camera The recognition is based on the characteristic motion of the legs of a pedestrian walking parallel to the image plane Each image is seg mented into region like image parts by clustering pixels in a combined color position feature space The pro posed clustering techn...

Integrating Vision and Language: Towards Automatic Description of Human Movements

The integration of vision and natural language processing increasingly attracts attention in different areas of AI research. Up to now, however, there have only been a few attempts at connecting vision systems with natural language access systems. Detection of Approaching Pedestrians from a Distance Using Temporal Intensity Patterns

Pedestrians captured from real world surveillance cameras can often be in frontal view. This is true for surveillance cameras installed in bridges and corridors. Surveillance cameras in these environments are often oriented in the direction along the passage. In such a setting, many of the walking pedestrians would often appear to be approaching the camera. In this paper, we focus on the detect...

Automatic detection and tracking of pedestrians from a moving stereo rig

We report on a stereo system for 3D detection and tracking of pedestrians in urban traffic scenes. The system is built around a probabilistic environment model which fuses evidence from dense 3D reconstruction and image-based pedestrian detection into a consistent interpretation of the observed scene, and a multi-hypothesis tracker to reconstruct the pedestrians’ trajectories in 3D coordinates ...
